Security tips included in Yahoo Mail

The new Yahoo Mail is one of the favorite web services for lots of people and, if we ignore the lack of some functions, it can be useful as well. But, since it's a mail service, and a pretty popular one, I would say, since million of users have created accounts, security measures are also welcome because they're supposed to protect the registered members against malicious things such as spam, hacks or other exploits. That's why Yahoo has always tried to bring the Mail security in the spotlights, an attempt which was continued today with a new "improvement."

You're probably wondering what's with the quotes. Well, the security measure implemented by Yahoo Mail is actually represented by some tips which are now displayed in the new Mail interface, usually redirecting users to another website hosted by Yahoo.

According to Ryan K., Yahoo Mail Community Manager, the webmail service will display these tips for the entire month as they have named April the "Yahoo Mail Security Month."

"A variety of tips are there to help you find a ton of useful information over on the Yahoo! Mail Security site. Whether it's understanding the best ways to prevent spam, how to protect yourself from viruses, or how to make sure you don't fall for a phishing scam, The Yahoo! Mail team wants you to be smarter online!" Ryan K. wrote in a blog post.

And as usual, the Sunnyvale-based company ignores people's requests and refuses to talk about POP3/IMAP support that would allow them to get their messages straight on their desktop, without visiting the Yahoo Mail webpage. Unfortunately for Yahoo, users started noticing this fact and nobody should be amazed if some of the Yahoo Mail consumers migrate to Gmail.

"There is a comment requesting IMAP in response to just about every blog post, yet there's never an announce even about it potentially being supported. Why are these comments constantly ignored?" Hogan, a reader of the Yahoo Mail Blog, wrote in a blog comment.
