This past April 13, Bette Midler took to Twitter to encourage people to start taking better care of our planet. Probably looking to make sure that her message would not go unnoticed, the artist shared a photo of herself dressed as Mother Earth.

The picture, available above, shows Better Midler standing on top of a pile of trash and even wearing a crown made of garbage. The dress that she is wearing appears to be emblazoned with seas and land masses.

By the looks of it, Better Midler shared this photo with her followers on Twitter in an attempt to raise awareness about the upcoming Earth Day, Huffington Post informs.

Hence the fact that the photo was accompanied by the following message: “Mother Earth looks after you. Please try to look after her. #Earth Day.”

Truth be told, Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22, so Bette Midler might have jumped the gun by tweeting this photo on April 13. Then again, perhaps it is a good thing that the artist chose not to wait and saw fit to raise awareness about this event sooner rather than later.

For those unaware, Earth Day was first celebrated back in 1970. The event in now held annually in over 190 countries around the world.
