During last year's summer, a team of industry veterans who worked on F.E.A.R. and No One Lives Forever has announced that a new horror game titled Betrayer was in the making.

Black Powder Games' first creation is a first-person action adventure game that takes place at the beginning of the 17th century and follows a newly founded colony from the New World.

Something really bad happened to the colony, and no one lived to tell the tale, so now players will try to piece things together while exploring a ghost-ridden Virginia coast, trying to fight or run away from conquistadors and other, much more menacing, dangers.

The developers share that since making F.E.A.R. around 10 years ago, they have been itching to create another player-driven game that puts an emphasis on exploration and discovery with full freedom and minimal hand holding.

Betrayer was the chance, and players can now experience the eerie first-person adventure that will gradually uncover the mystery of what happened in 1604.

The game looks creepy and has some weird and disturbing visuals, and the trailer shows a suspenseful atmosphere, offering a glimpse of the blight that drained the land of all life and color.

Betrayer is currently available on Steam Early Access, and will be fully released on March 24 on Steam.
