A number of developers who have previous experience with the creation of both FEAR and No One Lives Forever announce that they are working on a new first-person shooter title called Betrayer, which will take gamers to colonial Virginia.

The game uses only black and white graphics, with red used only for potential threats, and players will quickly find that the early colonial setting is populated with undead enemies.

The story is based on the mystery of the disappeared Roanoke colony and will be told with the help of elements from the environment, including gravestones, notes, artifacts and other items.

Craig Hubbard, the leader of the team, tells PC Gamer that, “It was just brutal and horrific and that’s great subject matter for an atmospheric and eerie game.”

The team will only offer a limited number of clues to the player and he will be able to explore the world of Betrayer at will, picking up bits of story and battling the randomly placed undead.

Betrayer will be offered on Steam Early Access on August 14 for 15 dollars or Euro.
