A new Fallout game won't be revealed to the world in the near future

Bethesda shed a bit more light on its development process and revealed that new projects, like the oft-rumored Fallout 4, won't be showcased anytime, soon as its internal teams don't want to constantly release games in the same old franchises.

Bethesda is getting set to launch quite a few interesting titles in the next couple of years, including The Elder Scrolls Online, The Evil Within, or Wolfenstein: The New Order.

After E3 2013, a new rumor appeared confirming that Fallout 4, the eagerly awaited next installment in the post-apocalyptic RPG series, had been shown behind closed doors.

Pete Hines, the vice president of Bethesda parent company Zenimax, talked with Polygon about the expectations of a new Fallout, but emphasized that its internal studios won't show off its projects anytime soon.

"I mean [fans] have been clamoring for a Fallout game for a long time now. What people need to understand — whether it is Bethesda Game Studios, Arkane or anybody — expecting information like that in any short period of time after they moved off one project to the other is really unrealistic," Hines said.

Bethesda revealed at the beginning of the year that its core team was moving onto a new project after working on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, so only a few months have passed since that game, possibly Fallout 4, went in full development.

Hines emphasized that Zenimax doesn't want to impose any restrictions on its teams and that they can work on projects for as long as possible.

"We are not into annual franchises — just trying to spin out a version of our game year, after year, after year — like, we have never done that, I don't see that it is something that we are doing anytime soon. But that doesn't mean that we are going to take our time and wait six or seven years in between a game that a studio puts out. But these are big games that take a long time and folks need to understand that we have a very certain way of going about things."

Hines pledged to reveal Bethesda's different titles as soon as possible, but the decision is in the hands of the actual teams.
