Bethesda, the developers of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have finally issued their first reaction after the launch of the broken 1.2 patch, telling the player base that they will continue to deliver patches for the game and that they will launch a Creation Kit in January for PC gamers.

The company is promising to launch more patches for all versions of the game, in order to fix the problems that affect everyone, like the missing resistance calculations, but also to eliminate any problems with quests and exploits.

But the most exciting announcement in the long term is that in January those who play on the PC will be able to download a Creation Kit, which includes many of the tools that Bethesda themselves used to create Skyrim.

The kit will come complete with a new wiki and videos that will help modders understand them quickly and use them to improve the game features that they found lacking.

The Creation Kit will come complete with support for Steam Workshop, which allows mod makers to upload their content to Steam and then allow anyone to try them out and rate it.

The Mod Workshop component of Steam can be accessed from a number of devices and allows players to queue up content to be downloaded and installed quickly and painlessly.

Modders will be able to make their content available through Steam while also using more established modding communities, like Skyrim Nexus.

Modders have created a lot of modifications for the latest Elder Scrolls without having access to any official tools, improving the look of the game and also changing some of the gameplay mechanics, like smiting or shout use.

Having official tools from Bethesda will open up many more possibilities and will probably mean that actual new adventures and dungeons will be created and shared by the Skyrim player community.

It’s not clear whether any of the content will be delivered to the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.
