Video game publisher Bethesda has announced that Prey 2 was still under development at the company despite the fact that the game is no longer listed in the upcoming launch schedule and no new news was offered about it for some time.

A representative from Bethesda has told IGN that, “Since we had already announced it wasn’t coming out this year and we don’t have anything new to say on the game at this time, we simply didn’t think it’d be appropriate to include it on the new site launch. We chose instead to focus on the upcoming titles we are talking about.”

He added, “We announced the delay in April, and until we’re ready to talk about the game more, the focus on the site is on our upcoming titles.”

Bethesda is currently only marketing and talking Dishonored, the mix between action and stealth from Arkane Studios, Doom 3: BFG Edition, the enhanced shooter from id Software, and The Elder Scrolls Online, the MMO which is created Bethesda Softworks.

Prey 2 was under development at Human Head Studios and Bethesda marketed the game heavily for about one year, showing clips and sending developers out to talk about the game.

Then, during the spring of 2012, Bethesda announced that it was delaying the game to an unspecified date during 2013 because of quality concerns.

Since then rumors began appearing that Prey 2 was actually canceled and that Human Head was no longer involved with the project in any way.

Bethesda says that the game is still being worked on but would not confirm who is now handling the development duties.

The game was supposed to offer a new take on bounty hunting and an atmosphere inspired by Blade Runner.

Prey 2 should be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
