Pete Hines, who is the main conduit for official communication from developer Bethesda, has announced that during the month of April fans of both the first-person shooter RAGE and those who prefer the role-playing in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should get ready for some interesting announcements.

Hines did not offer any clear information himself, but he posted a Twitter message which suggested “some cool news and surprises.”

Earlier during the month of March, John Carmack, who led the development effort of RAGE at id Software, has officially announced that he was ready to release a 64-bit executable for the game, although he did not offer a timeframe for the move.

He also said that RAGE would soon get a set of mod tools and, given Bethesda’s track record, integration with the Steam Workshop, allowing players to quickly get and install their favorite fan-made content.

It’s not clear what the announcements for Skyrim might entail, but the entire fan base is hoping that new areas and new quests will be introduced.

Bethesda has recently launched the 1.5.26 patch for the PC version of the game via Steam, and the same patch is going through the certification process at both Microsoft and Sony.

The fact that Bethesda has trademarked the name Dawnguard has prompted speculation from fans that the company is getting ready to announce the first piece of official downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The company has said, when its latest fantasy role-playing game was launched, that it was interested in delivering big DLC for the game, comparable to expansions for previous titled Oblivion.

Since launch, gamers have discovered bits of both the provinces of Morrowind and Cyrodil in the Skyrim game world, and the players will presumably be able to visit them at some point during the future.
