Bethesda is a pretty big video game developer and publisher, meaning that its executives definitely know what they are talking about when they express their views on competing titles and other video games that are available or will soon appear on the market.

Talking on his blog, the production director of Bethesda Game Studios, Ashley Cheng, expressed his view on this year's holiday season, which would bring a lot of high-quality titles to consumers around the world. He also admitted that, even considering the big amount of highly anticipated sequels, Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would blow away its competition.

“Not much coming out, in regards to AAA hardcore gamer's games to stand up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, other than Halo: ODST. Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, Brutal Legend and Dragon Age are the other AAA that look like they will ship this year. The new Forza looks good, too,” Cheng said. “All these titles should be happy so many other AAA titles have slipped so they can share in the bounty with MW2. I'm especially excited about Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 2.”

Perhaps Cheng didn't notice that Mass Effect 2 was heading, alongside other sequels like BioShock 2, for an early 2010 release. He then added that, because it would be multiplatform, Modern Warfare 2 would sell more than ODST, which is exclusive to the Xbox 360.

“I think MW2 will become the best selling Xbox 360/PS3 game of this console generation (of course, only because it comes out on PS3 - if any of the Halo's came out on PS3, oh vey...). It probably would be even without the slippage of the other titles - but now that so many big guns are late - practically guarantees it.”
