Bethesda Softworks has announced its E3 lineup of games. It includes some playable demos of Brink,
Fallout: New Vegas and Hunted: The Demon Forge. Also, id Software fans can be excited, as a new presentation of Rage is on the list of titles the publisher will be presenting at this year’s E3. One interesting fact about this list is that none of the games is being developed internally by Bethesda, well known for the venerable Elder Scrolls series.
Brink is an online first-person shooter developed by Splash Damage with persistent characters and team-based multiplayer. Splash Damage boasts some interesting twists for the genre. For example, as the match goes on, players can select objectives that dynamically influence others their team-mates and adversaries want or have to achieve. This results in no two matches being alike, even on the same map, according to the developer.
Fallout: New Vegas marks a return home for the Fallout series because it is created by Obsidian Studios, a company that hosts many of the original developers of the critically acclaimed first two games in the franchise. This new installment is not a direct sequel to Fallout 3, but does happen three years later. Many new features are being added by Obsidian, like melee attacks being possible in V.A.T.S., dialogue and faction options getting more depth or better control for the companions of the player’s character.
Rage is id Software's new shooter that is set for release sometime in 2011. It uses id Tech 5, the developer's new proprietary graphics engine that is to revolutionize video-game visuals for both the consoles and PC. Players will not only get to fight mutants in the title's post-apocalyptic setting, but will also get to compete in races using their own customizable vehicles. Rage will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes and will be released for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
