Bethenny Frankel, famous for her appearance on Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York, has a new book out. It’s a how-not-to dating book inspired by two of her most recent (bad) breakups, called “I Suck at Relationships So You Don't Have To: 10 Rules for Not Screwing Up Your Happily Ever After.”

She’s been doing media rounds to promote it, and stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show the other day, to impart her wisdom with the mostly female audience. The one guy who did end up in the audience wasn’t too thrilled about the things that came out of her mouth.

Continuing an idea she introduced in a previous interview, that women tend to act in a way that emasculates men (which is why a lady should never wipe out her credit card, and let the gentleman foot the bill), Bethenny talked about women’s “duty” to constantly make the men in their life feel stronger than they are.

She then proceeded to make this sweeping generalization that is as detrimental to both sexes as it’s stupid. As such, it needs to be put in writing as is: “I think that women and men don’t necessarily understand each other. Women are much crazier than men would even imagine, and men are much more stupid than women could possibly imagine. They are much simpler creatures than us.”

She continued to say that she didn’t mean any offense in the sense of saying that men are not cultured or well-real: they just had much simpler focuses in life. According to her, you can count the things men care about on the fingers of one hand.

With this kind of thinking, it’s really not that surprising she’s going through a bad breakup. Here’s the segment in full.
