There are few providers of storage management software solutions on the market and the name you hear most often these days is Acronis. It seems like the company is on the brink to launch a new batch of updates for its products, or at least this is what the launch of the new beta for Acronis True Image Home 2011 leads us to believe. The application has recently been released for testing purposes so that snags are detected and eliminated.

The new version of the program advertises some radical changes with regards to the interface, together with a heftier installation package, of 165MB. Redesigned looks are bent to offer increased usability and easier handling, and this translates into an interface very much resembling the current Control Panel in Windows 7.

A great improvement added to this version of Acronis True Image home is the fact that it automatically detects all the backups (TIB files) on the system and lists them in a single section. Moreover, you have the chance to view their contents unhindered straight from the program interface.

One important highlight in the new batch of features is support for USB 3.0. This ensures high speed transfers for your backups. Of course, this can only work if your motherboard is prepared for this standard, otherwise the speed will be restricted by the USB version available.

Acronis Nonstop Backup's capabilities have been expanded in this version to protecting individual files and folders. In 2010 version of the application this feature you can instruct it to protect entire partitions only, whereas the beta introduces the possibility to select files and folders as well. Additionally, now Secure Zone can be used as a storage location for Acronis Nonstop Backup.

The list of modifications does not stop at the above mentioned and continues with automatic update alerts at program start; the scheduler received its share of attention from the developer also and has been re-drawn to support wake up system when in sleep or hibernate mode for backup purposes.

Acronis True Image Home 2011 brings plenty of modifications, both at the surface as well as under the hood. If you want to download the application you will have to register (or log in) with Acronis and you'll be given a beta key in no time. For those antsy for the final build of the product, unfortunately at the current time the company cannot share a release date with us.
