Pre-order perk

Sony, as the publisher, and Zipper Interactive, as the developer, are announcing that they are expanding the amount of gamers who can get into the beta stage of MAG or Massive Action Game, their multiplayer shooter set to offer complex team-based and objective-oriented battles for up to 256 players.

The new stage is set to include all those who have pre-ordered MAG from either EB Games or from GameStop. They will be joining those who have already entered the beta stage and will be choosing their sides, Raven, Valor or S.V.E.R., as they get their first taste of how the game is played. Obviously, MAG is a very ambitious project.

The massive number of players will be divided into teams and then into smaller groups and a command hierarchy will be established to direct people to their objectives and to oversee the overall way the battle is conducted. Add a wide array of military hardware and MAG starts to look really impressive.

Sony is also saying that a new version of the Public Beta Client is set to arrive either late during this week or early during the next one, bringing big but unspecified updates to MAG. This being a beta stage, those players who join up and plan to continue playing in the next beta stage, from November 9 to 20, should expect pretty significant changes to MAG as developers take into account the feedback they receive and incorporate new features into the game experience.

Sony is also hyping up the official website of MAG, offering more information related to the three private armies that can be joined in the game, offering access to forums where experiences can be shared and offering new media content for fans that cannot wait for the official release of the title. MAG is a PlayStation 3 exclusive videogame set to arrive on January 26, 2010.
