Are you a kid of the '80s? Do you remember how school was for you? Just imagine how awesome it would be to have a slim laptop like a MacBook Air or an iPad in school. No need to carry heavy books, no need to keep your notes on paper.

Being a student in 2014 is more awesome than you can imagine. You have all the right tools to learn and get better at what you like. There's no need to visit the library. You can just download books via iBookstore right away and have the right environment to develop and learn as much as you can.

The Mac App Store editors are on a roll here with some awesome apps for your Mac if you are ready to go back to school. This new selection has two different categories: Apps made by Apple and Apps for College, with a total of over 40 apps.

The apps made by Apple are the obvious iWork suite that you can get for free with every new Mac: Pages, Keynote and Numbers. The tech giant also highlights Aperture – the best app to organize and edit your photos on OS X Mavericks. Yes, we know that Aperture will be gone with the OS X Yosemite release and the rise of the new Photos app. For the video-loving students out there, Final Cut Pro made it on this list as well. It is, after all, the best app to edit footage and share the resulting videos.

But third-party apps are what makes this selection a great one. Put the student shoes on and start downloading.

First app you want to get is Evernote. The so-called everything drawer is the gold standard in filing any kind of documents. Scan them, write them by hand or type, get them from a website or just a photo and throw it in there. The app will be able to OCR and organize your files so you can find them and use them when needed.

If you are looking for the complete ToDo app for your Mac to schedule courses, classes and parties make sure to get Wunderlist. OK, OmniFocus 2 does that better but Clear has a nicer interface. You get the idea. There are plenty of them so you can easily find one to suit your needs.

1Password is the best app to keep your passwords, secure notes, credit cards and even library cards safe. Its browser extensions and iOS apps will keep all your stuff secured.

Do you need to write anything? Sure you do. Byword is the most elegant app to write on the Mac. The app was designed to keep you focused and give you the options you need when you actually need them, instead of using a complicated interface that is there on the screen all the time. Also, you homework will not end up as dog food because you can sync everything via Dropbox or iCloud.

Simplenote is another great app that helps you jot down notes and find snippets right away. Feel the need for a diary? Day One is the best app for that and when you download it, you will notice why this app has been awarded with the 2014 Apple Design Award.

Discover all apps in this selection. You have no excuse to be a great student and follow your dreams.
