Microsoft has announced that the program allowing gamers to pick up an Xbox 360 home console for a lower upfront price has now been expanded to include retailers Best Buy and GameStop, after first being tested out in the Microsoft Store only.

The new program allows anyone to walk into a store and pick up an Xbox 360 for the low price of 99 dollars (79.14 Euro) down payment.

The device is the 4 GB hard drive version of the home console with an added Kinect motion tracking system.

The player also signs an agreement that will see him paying for 24 months of Xbox Live Gold service for the price of 14.99 dollars (11.98 Euro) for each month.

Microsoft has not said how successful the new Xbox 360 sales program has been, but the company has managed to lead the NPD Group compiled hardware chart in North America for the last 14 months.
