Best Buy has just announced officially that all of its stores around the United States will have Nexus S units when the new Android-based smartphone launches on December 16th.

At the same time, the company announced that it would have the smartphone available for online purchase on its website starting with 8 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Dec. 16.

The Nexus S by Samsung is the first smartphone that would arrive on shelves with the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system flavor on board.

Here's what Best Buy notes on when it comes to the launch day: Timing: Online sales of Nexus S begin at 8 a.m. Eastern time to coincide with the opening of Best Buy stores on the East Coast. As a reminder, all Best Buy stores have adjusted their holiday hours to open at 8 a.m.

Availability: Nexus S is available in all Best Buy and Best Mobile specialty stores. Exact inventory will vary by store. Nexus S will be sold out on a first-come, first-serve basis with a limit of 2 per customer.

The retailer also announced that all stores would have Nexus S demo phones so that users could play with the device and learn what it can offer.

The Nexus S will be put on sale unlocked with a price tag of $529 attached to it. At the same time, the handset would be made available with a two-year contract agreement with T-Mobile, case in which it would cost only $199.

According to Best Buy, users interested in the purchase of Nexus S would also have the possibility to opt for add-a-line activation, with the device priced at $249.99.

“As with all smart phones it sells, Best Buy Mobile will have a full assortment of accessories for Nexus S and offers an array of services aimed at improving the mobile phone buying experience,” the company notes.

Among these services, we can count the Upgrade Checker, through which users can learn when they become eligible for a phone upgrade. As the upgrade time nears, users would be informed via an email, a call, or a text message.

Walk Out Working is another service Best buy offers to its customers, through which they leave any Best Buy store with the new handset set up and working. A Best Buy Mobile Phone Specialist will guide customers through this process.
