The smartphone launch date is still pending confirmation from Verizon

Rumors about the upcoming Galaxy Nexus point to a December 9 release, but Verizon Wireless has yet to make any official announcements concerning the availability of the smartphone.

This is probably the reason that many authorized resellers, Best Buy included, are still waiting to put the smartphone on sale, though the device is already in stock.

The folks over at AndroidCentral got their hands on an internal document confirming that Best Buy will receive the Galaxy Nexus in stock today.

However, it appears that the retailer is forced to put an embargo on the sales of the Galaxy Nexus until Verizon decides on the official release date of the device.

According to the leaked document “stores will start to receive inventory of Galaxy Nexus devices as early as today.”

Furthermore, the retailer advises its employees that “the device launch date is still pending and it is important that stores DO NOT sell inventory or disclose that inventory exists until a launch date is announced.”

Although the document in question is not dated, we can assume that it was issued around the same day it was leaked, though it’s marked as ‘confidential.’

It appears that Best Buy will be among the few retailers that will be selling the Samsung Galaxy Nexus the same day it’s officially launched at Verizon Wireless.

Radio Shack is also on the list of major retailers that will offer the Galaxy Nexus, but the company will receive the device in stock later this week, so it’s still unclear if it will manage to put it up for sale on December 9.

Android fans anxiously waiting for the Galaxy Nexus to come live in the United States should expect a $300 price tag on the device. Obviously, the deal requires customers to commit to a a new two-year agreement as well.
