Bad news for Motorola DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX owners as Best Buy is apparently informing its employees that the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update has been delayed.

Given the fact that it’s Best Buy that we’re talking about, I would take the new information with a grain of salt, especially that the retailer notified its employees last week that an Ice Cream Sandwich update for DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX would be pushed by Verizon on April 4.

This time the folks at Droid-Life have published some sort of Best Buy internal document, which informs employees that the updates scheduled for April 4 have been delayed.

The good news is that HTC Rezound is still on track for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade on April 6, though we doubt that this would be possible due to the fact that Verizon is readying a totally different update for this smartphone.

We’ve just checked the carrier’s support site and it looks like there’s a software version 2.01.605.11 “coming soon” to all HTC Rezound devices.

Verizon already published the update’s changelog and it seems that this will bring several improvements and bug fixes.

For example, the signal strength meter has been updated to 5 bar Received. The audio quality during voice call has been improved as well, along with the device stability, which reduces continuous resets.

The following issues have been addressed with the new software update:

- Screen Timeout issues while connected to Wi-Fi have been resolved; - Resolved issue with Mobile Hotspot data stalling while multiple users are connected; - Reduced forced closures related to the People application; - Resolved issue with Task Manager stopping Mail background service.

It’s unclear what made Best Buy assume that Verizon plans to deploy the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade for HTC Rezound on April 6, but anything is possible. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
