Because there weren’t enough rumors about Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” to confuse and drive you mad, here’s one more to add to the pile: Benedict Cumberbatch might play the villain.

Wait, what? If you’re wondering how this came to happen, worry not, you’re not alone: I have been monitoring fan sites and trade publications for new details on the film for weeks and this is the first time I hear this.

Apparently, the BBC knows something we don’t because, the other night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2014, reporter Chi Chi Izundo asked the actor about his involvement in the much mediated Warner Bros. superhero flick.

“Benedict Cumberbatch says he’s not going to put to bed rumors he’s the baddie in #BatmanvSuperman,” Izundo posted on Twitter during the awards gala.

So, even if there was a rumor linking Cumberbatch to the film, he’s not saying anything about it. How’s that for a tease?

Speaking of the awards gala, Benedict won Actor of the Year and thanked Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy for not being able to attend the festivities because this made it possible for him to win.

He was a bit tipsy and thus delivered a very cute and rambling speech, which you will also find embedded below. *Some discretion is recommended because of two instances of language that might offend.

“Thank you very good much” will be, from now on, my way of saying “thanks.” Enjoy!
