Benedict Cumberbatch can be seen next on the big screen in the much hyped Julian Assange movie “The Fifth Estate,” in which he plays Assange himself. He is now promoting it in the US, with TV appearances including on Jimmy Fallon and GMA.

As the video embedded below will confirm, on Good Morning America, Cumberbatch was a bit more serious, talking about whether he considered Assange a hero or a traitor, and offering a very detailed response as to why he would personally never choose black or white.

The situation was all shades of grey to be shrugged off this easily, he said.

On Fallon though, there was no need for him to keep a straight face. Cumberbatch accepted Jimmy Fallon’s offer for an “Alan Rickman-Off,” which saw them read out loud famous rap lyrics while doing their best impression of Rickman’s voice.

You can see that video above. Cumberbatch wins by far, without a doubt.

“The Fifth Estate” is scheduled for release in US theaters on October 18. Julian Assange has publicly disavowed the film, calling Cumberbatch a “hired gun” in an open letter.
