Benedict Cumberbatch is not typically handsome, but he is undeniably hot. The talented actor most recently seen in the BBC One series “Sherlock” has topped countless hot polls as of late, but he is yet to understand why all the fuss.

On the red carpet at the BAFTAs (sadly, he didn't win), the actor spoke a bit to the press about how he feels whenever he sees his name next to that of men who are undeniably handsome.

He doesn't understand why, all of a sudden, people are making such a big deal out of his looks – he certainly doesn't feel any more attractive than he was some time ago, Express reports.

“I don’t know about the world's [sexiest man title]. Or anybody's,” he says.

If he were to guess, he'd say he's probably the hottest man in his own home, but that's only because he happens to be the only make there.

“Maybe in my flat I [am] because I’m the only guy living in my flat. I’m very flattered. It’s so silly that it just makes me laugh. I see all the faults that I’ve seen for 35 years of my life with myself so I don’t know how else to take it other than to giggle,” Benedict adds.

It's not just Benedict's odd features and deep, rich voice (a sample of which you can see below, embedded at the end of the article) that have earned him millions of fans from all over the world, but also his talent and versatility.

Right now, Cumberbatch is shooting for “Star Trek 2,” opposite Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, where he plays the villain.

Before that, he did two seasons of “Sherlock” on BBC, a modern take on the classic story, in which Benedict plays the lead.

Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, with the show going on hiatus: he went on to work on “Star Trek” while co-star Martin Freeman started shooting for “The Hobbit.”

According to reports in the press and the blogosphere, producers don't have a script yet for season 3 of the insanely successful series, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

In fact, production is believed to kick off the moment the schedules of the two leads clears up.
