These past couple of years have seen Benedict Cumberbatch go fully mainstream and become, from the niche (but adored) actor that he was, a true Hollywood icon who is equally adored. During a recent trip to Japan to promote “Star Trek Into Darkness,” he sat down for an interview with the local edition of Elle magazine.

Oddly enough, he didn’t talk about the movie or, at least, that’s what excerpts from the interview made available on tumblr seem to indicate.

He did, though, go into details about his special relationship with his (mostly female) fans and dished a bit about his perfect woman.

Ladies, pay attention.

He also said that he wasn’t yet ready to settle down, having changed his mind from the last time he approached the topic and said that he was pretty much “dying” to tie the knot with a special someone and start a family.

“It is a wonderful thing to get married young and become a father. I used to think that I’d get married by mid-30’s and have children,” Cumberbatch said.

“But now I think I can wait. I’m no longer in a hurry to get married. I would like to first get to know the partner and build a trusting relationship before making the commitment,” he added.

As for that partner he’s looking for, she must be intelligent and down to earth, confident and an experienced conversationalist.

Obviously, looks aren’t that important, because Benedict says he finds a woman who knows she doesn’t have to get “decked out” for a date truly irresistible.

“I believe the sense of humor is important. I also think someone who is good at working with others is [hot]. It’s like playing a tennis doubles match. You need to be able to work well together if you are to stay as partners for a long time,” Benedict added.
