BenQ has been periodically refreshing its monitor lineup over the past months, each time offering a new combination between cost accessibility, image quality and screen size. Seeking to continue this string of product releases, the company has now come forth with another set of quite large monitors, which, through their screen sizes and special design elements, are meant to add a touch of aesthetic value to any home environment they are used in.

“These monitors will not only be chic enough to become the centerpiece of your desk, but also become the visual highlights in the decor of any room as they are made to accentuate the users’ vibrant and creative living spaces,” the official press release states.

This most recent line is dubbed the GL Series and is made up of five base models, namely the 22-inch GL2231, the largest of the lot, the 21.5-inch GL2230, the 20-inch GL2030, the 19-inch GL931 and, lastly, the 18.5-inch GL930. They all share the same maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, the response time of 5ms, an intriguing dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1 and, of course, BenQ's signature Senseye Human Vision Technology, which automatically enhances color, contrast and clarity depending on the environment.

What differentiate between the multiple LED-backlit LCDs are their connectivity capabilities. In fact, they are divided into four groups, namely GL (with D-Sub and DVI-D), GL/A (D-Sub), GL/M (D-Sub, DVI-D, Line-In, Headphone Jack) and GL/AM (D-Sub, Line-In, Headphone Jack). Furthermore, the GL/M and GL/AM models also boast built-in speakers. Finally, like all LED-backlit displays, the GL Series monitors consume less power than CCFL-backlit products.

For those interested in numbers, consumption is 14,3% lower during normal operation and 39.3% lower in Eco mode. The GL2030/A/AM/M monitors should become available over the next few days, with the rest not set to come out before July. Each and every one of them is Microsoft Windows 7-certified.
