BenQ seems to have expanded its liquid crystal display (LCD) lineup with a new model that is specifically aimed at end-users that, while on a budget, would still enjoy a larger-than-usual monitor for their home systems. Known as the G2420HDB, the new product is a downgraded version of the BenQ G2420HDBL, a monitor introduced late last year. While measuring the same 24 inches, the new addition uses a less expensive backlighting technology in order to achieve a more accessible price point.

As opposed to the G2420HDBL, which consumes 24W of power, the G2420HDB does not use LED backlighting, which makes it consume 49W. The more recent device also has a lower dynamic contrast ratio, namely of 40,000:1 instead of 5,000,000:1.

Other than these two differences, however, the two models are very much alike. The G2420HDB supports the same Full-HD 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, has a brightness of 300 cd/m2, a viewing angle of 170/160 degrees and a response time of 5ms. As for connectivity, the monitor comes with D-Sub and DVI connectors.

BenQ's latest display weighs 4.9 kg and is designed with a piano black bezel that measures 412.6 x 570 x 183.9 mm, or 348.42 x 570 x 63.26 mm when used with a wall mount. The actual viewing area is of 531.36 x 298.89 mm and it boasts 16.7 million colors, a 20 – 83Hz horizontal frequency, a vertical frequency of 50 – 76Hz and a video bandwidth of 205MHz.

Furthermore, the product features the Senseye + Photo Image Technology, RoHS compliance, HDCP support and even a built-in auto switching power supply. When in the Power Saving mode, the power consumption is reduced to under 1W.

BenQ's new monitor is selling for 143 Euro, which is the equivalent of roughly $196. Full information and images may be found on the official product page.
