BenQ releases new consumer monitor

HP may have launched a bunch of new displays not long ago, but it didn't have anything new for the consumer market, an area that BenQ was, it turns out, all too eager to address via an announcement of its own.

It appears that there really is no end to the newer, better and, in some cases, cheaper display solutions that grace the consumer front nowadays.

Granted, this goes for the enterprise and industrial fronts as well, HP made this more than clear.

Still, consumers are consumers, so they will pay more attention to what is in their immediate vicinity.

As it happens, the new monitor from BenQ is not, in fact, in their vicinity at all, since it has yet to be released.

Fortunately, it won't be long until shipments start (availability is scheduled for later this month, September 2011).

In fact, pre-orders are, reportedly, already possible, for the price of 340 Euro, which is lower than the recommended one (399 Euro).

That said, the panel has a diagonal of 27 inches, quite on the large side, while the VA (Vertical Alignment) panel brings wide viewing angles to the equation.

For those that want numbers, said viewing angles (horizontal and vertical) are of 178 degrees.

BenQ was able to give the screen a dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 20,000,000:1 (the static ratio is of 3,000:1).

Also, the response time is of 8ms, while the brightness of 300 cd/m2 will make sure users don't have a reason to complain about visibility.

Other specifications include stereo speakers, a DVI ports, a pair of HDMI connectors and a four-port USB hub.

Finally, the native resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD) and the Senseye 3 technology can allow owners to choose between six pre-set viewing modes (Photo, sRGB, ECO, Photo, Movie and, of course, Standard).
