BenQ, like all companies that deal in monitor making and marketing, is always on the lookout for ways to enhance visibility and image quality. One could say that the technologies to ensure either of these aspects already exist. Unfortunately, as often occurs, they are not exactly easy to combine, or worthwhile form a pricing perspective. BenQ has now come up and declared that it did manage to fuse together two solutions, the result being a number of monitors with wide viewing angles, detailed picture and lower power draw.

The lines of displays that BenQ has readied to go by the names of EW and VW and are comprised of Full HD monitors (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) with a cinematic aspect ratio of 16:9. The products themselves are the 24-inch EW2420 and VW2420(H), as well as the 21.5-inch VW2220(H).

VA LED panels stand out from other solutions through the fact that they have better color reproduction and an ultra-high contrast ratio. One of the main strong points is the fact that they can produce true black with zero bright dot (ZBD) and even minimize light leakage. This, naturally, leads to better contrast, in this case a static ratio of 3000:1. The viewing angles are also maximized, all the way up to 178 degrees, both vertical and horizontal. To even further increase image clarity and detail, BenQ naturally implemented its Senseye Human Vision technology in all of its new products.

As for connectivity, the monitors will be able to connect to PCs via D-Sub and DVI output, though the 'H' models also have HDMI 1.3 ports. Furthermore, the EW series come with an extra HDMI input and a pair of 1.5W speakers, in addition to 4 USB ports. Finally, the VW2420(H), EW2420 and VW2220(H) VA LED displays will start shipping in July, August and November, respectively, though their prices are still a mystery.
