Monitors combine large screen size with LED backlighting and accessible prices

In keeping with the current concerns of the market, which demands that liquid crystal display monitors also be built with power efficiency features besides the actual display capabilities, BenQ announced its latest LED backlit monitors that are both eco-friendly and capable of delivering a high viewing quality. The monitors are known as the 21.5-inch G2222HDL and the 24-inch G2420HDBL and both employ the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

“Suitable for both work and play, the BenQ G2222HDL and the G2420HDBL provide true-to-life 16:9 images with 1920 x 1080 resolution. This provides a clear view of multiple documents simultaneously, which is excellent for the office ensuring a high work productivity level. Design focused, both new G series monitors come in a sleek glossy black frame design with elegant curves that make them a stylish addition to any home or office,” the press release said.

The two displays are FULL HD-capable with glossy black frames and a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 (1000:1 contrast ratio). The LED backlighting and brightness of the devices provide excellent readability, with the actual brightness of the two monitors being 250 cd/m2. In addition, the two displays are built entirely free of mercury, making them environment friendly besides just appealing from a visual point of view. Eco-friendliness is also provided by the reduced power consumption, with the actual power usage being 36% lower compared to that of traditional monitors.

The gadgets employ a TN panel and have a response time of only 5ms. They are built with DVI and D-sub connectors and have 16.7 million colors, as well as a viewing angle of 170 / 160 and a video bandwidth of 205 MHz. In addition, the monitors feature the proprietary Senseye Human Vision technology, which calibrates the picture and displays true colors via five pre-set modes: Standard, Movie, Game, Photo and sRGB.

The G2222HDL and the G2420HDBL will become available in the United Kingdom by the end of December, which really means they will start selling some time during the next week or so. The 21.5-inch G2222HDL 16:9 widescreen monitor will be priced at £149.00 (including VAT), whereas the larger 24-inch G2420HDBL will be priced at £169.00 (also including VAT).
