It would seem that short-throw projectors are becoming increasingly popular nowadays, as they allow users to view widescreen images even within the confines of a small room. And since most projector manufacturers are coming out with such products, the people over at BenQ have also decided to tackle this market segment and launched the MP771 model, a high-brightness XGA projector, featuring a short-throw lens as well as certain interesting features to provide corporate and education users with an easy access to big-screen viewing experience.

The BenQ MP771 makes big-screen viewing possible even in smaller spaces due to the fact that it is able to project a 74-inch (1.87-meter) picture from just a meter away. Furthermore, the short-throw ratio also makes it more practical and safe for presenters to stand between the projector and audience, avoiding the annoyance and health risks of the bright projector lamp shining into their eyes.

The device provides a 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness and high 2,000:1 contrast ratio and is equipped with BrilliantColor technology that brings a 50% increase in brightness of mid-tone color, resulting in highly saturated images. Featuring UNISHAPE lamp lighting technology, the MP771 is able to vary the intensity of the projector lamp in synchronization with its Digital Micro mirror Device (DMD) and color wheel, allowing an increase of 40% in brightness and boosts specific colors in different application modes.

Moreover, the 3D Color Management, allows users to fine-tune the six colors (R/G/B/C/M/Y) independently for hue, saturation and gain to suit personal preferences or meet the requirements of specific applications. Furthermore, the Wall Color Correction Technology allows users to employ walls, even non-white ones, as a projection screen, without the need to make tedious manual picture adjustments.

As mentioned earlier, the MP771 also provides a wide array of extra-features, including here the Splash Screen Lock function, a 12V trigger, Quick Auto Search function, Power On/Off Ringtones, On-screen FAQ and a Presentation Timer that assists the user in keeping track of the time. Additionally, the projector provides a detachable key pad for enhanced security, Off-and-Go function and top access lamp door for easy lamp replacement and maintenance.

According the company, the MP771 short-throw projector will be shipped worldwide in November and will probably retail for around 1900-2000 US dollars (according to various online retailers), which is not that high a price, taking into consideration the enhanced level of versatility this thing can provide.
