Ben Affleck returns to the big screen this Friday, with “Gone Girl,” the David Fincher-directed thriller based on the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, which also happens to be one of the most anticipated releases of the fall of 2014.

In 2016, he will be appearing as Batman in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” from director Zack Snyder, a role that many fans still feel he didn’t deserve – and will probably “ruin” for good, just like he did Daredevil.

On John Stewart’s Daily Show the other day, Affleck gave away the ending of “Dawn of Justice.” Well, actually it was John who spoiled it, but he did even worse by confirming that what he was saying was true: Henry Cavill’s Superman will defeat his Batman.

Naturally, this was just a joke, part of friendly banter between two people who have worked in the industry long enough to know what can and can’t be said on television. Still, you have to watch the interview (video below) because it is, without a doubt, the funniest Ben has ever been, whether on camera or in print.

The fact that Stewart plays along and feeds him the lines he needs for his next joke helps a lot. Basically, the entire interview is just a joke you shouldn’t believe a word of, but it’s more effective than all those other serious interviews he’s been giving because it will make audiences like him more.

There is still a large chunk of the moviegoer public who still can’t see past Affleck’s “Gigli” and “Daredevil,” even those who do give him credit for being a solid director. Videos like this one will make them open up more and at least give him a chance as Batman.

Now, enjoy the banter!
