A short while ago, an illegal undercover gambling ring was exposed through several media reports, including A-listers like Tobey Maguire, Matt Damon and Leo DiCaprio. Ben Affleck is also involved, claims a new report, and it’s ruining his marriage to Jennifer Garner. At one point, Ben went to rehab for alcohol and gambling, and, so far, he’s managed to keep clean, Star magazine claims in its latest print issue (story via
Jezebel).
All that changed some time ago, when he started drinking and gambling again. Jennifer had no idea about what he was doing, the report says, so she was understandably heartbroken when she found out.
If Affleck doesn’t change his ways – and fast – he risks to be left alone, because Jennifer is determined to break it off and she’s already informed him of her intentions, claims Star.
“As we gambled, [Ben] would joke with us that he’d told Jen he was going to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. He’d say, ‘I’ve got to get home to the wife before she figures out where I am’,” a source says for the tabloid about a recent game.
When she did eventually find out, Jennifer went ballistic, the report argues. She told him directly that she would leave if he didn’t clean up his act – at this point, their marriage is on the verge, the insider reveals.
At the same time,
Radar Online claims to have it on very good authority that Affleck’s problems run deep, back in the day when he was still dating Jennifer Lopez and would gamble himself into debt on a regular basis.
One time, for instance, he ran a $400,000 tab and vanished for weeks because he didn’t have the money to pay it, spies say for the publication.
“Ben busted big. He drummed up a giant tab, and then all of a sudden he disappeared from the game. He wasn’t seen for months,” one of the players at the table that night reveals.
Eventually, since he owed the money to a major Hollywood honcho, Affleck resurfaced, paid his debt, broke up with JLO (who wouldn’t stand for his habits), cleaned up his act, met and married Jen.
Now, he’s about to go through the same again, Star claims.
