A 4-year-old beluga whale living in captivity at SeaWorld San Antonio passed away on Sunday.

Information shared with the public says that, some time before dying, the marine mammal showed signs of being ill.

However, park officials are currently unable to say for sure what was wrong with it, and why it died.

According to Ecorazzi, a necropsy will soon be conducted in order to determine the exact cause of death. However, it might be a few weeks before any more news hits the public eye.

The same source tells us that the beluga whale's name was Bella. The creature was born at SeaWorld, and spent her entire life in captivity.

Some animal rights activists now claim that Bella passed away precisely because she was forced to live in a pool and have people stare at her all day long.
