Motorola ATRIX, the Android-based smartphone that mobile phone maker Motorola unveiled in early January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas as the most powerful handset in the world, is now available for pre-order in Canada via Best Buy.

The smartphone arrives on the local market on the airwaves of Bell, while already announced that the handset would become available for purchase as of March 17th.

The new smartphone can already be seen on Best Buy's website, but the pre-orders are available only in the company's stores around Canada.

“Visit your local Best Buy Mobile and place a $50 deposit. As soon as the Motorola Atrix phones arrive in our stores, we will notify you immediately so you can get your phone ahead of everyone else. See in-store for details,” the company notes.

When announcing the new device, Bell said that it would have it on sale at $169.95 with the signing of a three-year contract agreement on a minimum $50 voice/data plan, and that those who would like to acquire it off contract would have to pay $599.95 for it.

The handset arrives on shelves with a dual-core application processor inside, an Nvidia Tegra 2, complemented by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset also comes with front- and rear-facing cameras, WiFi, Bluetooh and 3G connectivity capabilities, a 1930 mAh battery, and support for a wide range of Google Mobile Services and applications available for download via the Android Market.

“The all-powerful superphone Motorola's all-new Atrix is the first smartphone powered by a dual-core processor, enabling it to deliver graphics faster than other smartphones,” Best Buy notes on its website.

“While Adobe Flash Player lets you enjoy rich Web videos, a qHD screen displays games, movies and TV shows with remarkable clarity.”
