A new platform upgrade is reportedly on its way to the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC on the network of Bell in Canada, namely OS version 2.1.0.1526.

The new platform upgrade is expected to arrive on devices starting with today, and should provide users with some appealing new features and enhancements.

One of them involves making and receiving video calls over a 4G network, MobileSyrup notes. There are also a series of Email and Calendar improvements, aimed at offering support for portrait viewing, it seems.

Furthermore, the tablet PC will receive a series of BlackBerry Bridge improvements in this release, including some for Text messaging and Wi-Fi transport.

The new software, which is expected to start arriving on the PlayBook as soon as today, will also enable users to enroll with BlackBerry Fusion over-the-air.
