Canadian carriers Bell and Virgin Mobile have just introduced a couple of new smartphone plans for new and existing postpaid customers.

According to Virgin Mobile, the new plans are available beginning “August 11 until further notice,” which hints to the possibility of this being a limited time offer.

Dubbed Combo Plan 50 and Combo Plan 65, the new plans offer the following advantages to customers who opt for Bell or Virgin Mobile services:

$50 Smartphone plan ($50 CAD per month): - 200 anytime minutes; - Weekend & Evenings starting at 6 PM; - Unlimited Canada-Wide calling to 10 buddies; - Unlimited Canada, U.S., International text and picture messaging; - Voicemail 3 and Call Display; - 100 MB data on Smartphone or Unlimited BlackBerry Social on BlackBerry.

Keep in mind that additional data overage for this plan is $10 CAD per 100 MB, so make sure you don’t exceed the 100 MB data included in the plan.

The second smartphone plan offered by Virgin Mobile is aimed at those who need more mobile data included in their plan. The Combo Plan 65 offers the following advantages:

$65 Smartphone plan ($65 CAD per month): - 200 anytime minutes - Weekend & Evenings starting at 6 PM; - Unlimited Canada-Wide calling to 10 buddies; - Unlimited Canada, U.S., International text and picture messaging; - Voicemail 3 and Call Display; - 1 GB of data.

Customers who exceed the 1 GB of mobile data included in the Combo Plan 65 will have to pay $10 CAD for each additional GB.

It is also worth mentioning that Bell Canada offers the same plans, but the carrier also throws in 10 hours of Mobile TV with the $65/month plan, so new customers may want to take this into consideration before subscribing to one of the two carriers.
