Canadian mobile phone carrier Bell is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a new Android-based handset, namely the HTC Legend, which has been unveiled officially during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February. According to the reports, the Legend might land at Bell sometime in the May-June time frame, yet no official details on the matter have been unveiled until now.
The
HTC Legend comes to the market with Google's Android 2.1 operating system, with the Taiwanese mobile phone maker's own Sense user experience thrown into the mix, a 3.2-inch capacitive AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, a 600 MHz Qualcomm processor, Wi-Fi connectivity options, 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space.
According to
mobilesyrup, there are no specific details available at the moment, neither on the release date nor on the price tag the handset would arrive at
the carrier with, though more info should emerge in the near future. If the rumors pan out, the Legend would become the first handset Bell brings to Canada with Android 2.1 on board, following the launch of Samsung Galaxy and Motorola Dext, both of which run under Android 1.5.
In related news, we learn that the wireless operator has operated some changes with its plans for
the Palm Pre. The smartphone is currently available from the carrier for free upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement, and it seems that this is the only contract option Canadians can benefit from when it comes to purchasing the Palm Pre on Bell. However, those not willing to commit to a contract of this length can always acquire the device at full retail, paying $295.95 for it. Although the one-year and two-year contract options are not available at the moment with Palm Pre, the no-contract price still seems like an appealing option, one should agree.
