The carrier will no longer order new shipments of the device

Canadian mobile phone carrier Bell appears set to clean up its lineup for newer devices faster than some might expect, as it has reportedly decided to end the life of Xperia Z Ultra only months after it arrived on shelves.

The smartphone, made available through Bell in October last year, sports a large 6.4-inch touchscreen display, a dust and waterproof design, and a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside.

Xperia Z Ultra was also released with an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2MP camera on the front, as well as with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on top. On March 19, however, Sony kicked off the roll out of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for it.

According to a leaked document that has emerged over at MobileSyrup, Bell has announced that the device is no longer available for ordering, and has already put the end of life stamp on it.

Of course, the handset will remain available through the wireless carrier until it runs out of stock, yet those who will try to buy it after that happens will be out of luck.

No specific info on why the operator has decided to make this move has been provided as of now, but chances are that it is getting ready for the release of new handsets, most probably the new Xperia Z2 from Sony. Stay tuned for more on this.
