August 1 seems to be the lucky day

The Pre, Palm's high-end device, has already been rumored to get ready for a Canadian launch with the wireless carrier Bell, and the latest reports on the Web show that the release date is getting near. According to an internal document that reached the Internet via MobileSyrup, the mobile phone operator is already training its employees on the upcoming device.

The rumored training program on the Pre should have started yesterday in Calgary, moving to Vancouver today, followed by Toronto on July 23, Montreal, July 27, and Moncton on July 29, the final day of training. It seems that the document shows that the launch is to be made during the ongoing quarter, while also unveiling some details on the HSPA network, though nothing specific is mentioned.

Some more detailed rumors on the launch day come from PreCentral, showing that the launch should be performed sometime in the July 31 / August 1 weekend. The info seems to come from a HowardForums user, who claims that the details have been 'heard from inside'. “A lot of the time they keep referring to August 1 as the official launch date. Or at least what they're preparing for unless some kind of delays occur,” is what the user states.

Previously, the Palm Pre was rumored to become available with the carrier only on September 1, and the recent details contradict that, so the question mark will remain there still. Hopefully, Pre's launch on Bell won't resemble the one Palm and Sprint made, with hundreds of rumors on the possible launch date surfacing on the web in the months before the release.

One way or the other, the one thing that matters is that the Pre is indeed coming to Bell, and that the launch won't be too far into the future. Hopefully, Palm will manage to meet demand both on Sprint and in Canada, and the handset will prove to be as appealing to users as the phone maker intended it to be in the first place. Stay tuned to learn more.
