There are a couple of things you can do as a mobile phone manufacturer if you want to ensure that your product sells, even though it's not exactly
new.
The first of them that we've seen time and time again is the release of a new color version of an older product. Second on the list is something Nokia has been doing quite a few times by just taking a phone and turning it into a 'Music Edition', sporting pretty much the same features except for an extra memory card in the pack.
Such is the case of the
Motorola Q Music Edition that has become available for mobile operator Bell Canada's customers. The features it includes are exactly the same, a 1.3 megapixel camera full QWERTY keyboard for the people who need to quickly and easily compose emails and documents while on the move, Bluetooth and IrDA for connectivity, media player with support for MIDI, MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA and WAX and H.263, MPEG4, GSM-AMR and WMV video file formats, MiniSD card slot for memory expansion and high-quality stereo features.
All this comes packed in a 116 x 63 x 12 mm case that weighs 115 grams. So, since it's exactly the same as the regular Q, why does it come as a special 'Music Edition'? Why, because it also comes with a 2GB miniSD memory card, stereo headphones and a $25 CDN gift card that one can use through the MSN Music Store. The Music Edition Motorola Q is now available with an email, internet and voice plan, for $129 on a three-year contract.
