BlackBerry fans who were expecting for Bell's BlackBerry Torch 9860 will probably be disappointed to find that the carrier decided to delay the launch of the smartphone for August 31.

Although the full-touch device should have been available starting today, for unknown reasons Bell re-scheduled the phone's launch date for next week.

According to the guys over at MobileSyrup, the new launch date has been set for Wednesday, August 31st, but the price options have yet to be revealed.

Announced three weeks ago, along with Torch 9810 and Bold 9900, the Torch 9860 is one of the first Research in Motion (RIM) smartphone to be delivered with BlackBerry 7 operating system on board.

The device emerged in the wild under different monikers, and is also known as BlackBerry Monza or Touch.

The Torch 9860 if a full-touch smartphone and features a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

In addition, it comes with optical trackpad, proximity sensor for auto-turn off, as well as accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.

The device is equipped with a 1.2 GHz processor, one of the most powerful CPUs embedded into a BlackBerry smartphone.

Furthermore, the Torch 9860 sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabilization, face detection and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

On the inside, the Torch 9860 packs 8 GB of internal storage, 768 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Torch 9860 offers users the full array of connectivity options, including: Push Email, GPS with A-GPS support (BlackBerry maps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support.

On related news, the phone is expected to hit shelves at Rogers some time this week, but it can also be purchased via Future Shop retailer for $ 129.99 with a new Bell three-year agreement.
