It connects to the strongest Wi-Fi signal it can detect in the vicinity

Wi-Fi routers are all well and good, but their range can leave much to be desired, especially in a large home. So, to avoid feeling like that amazing 1900 Mbps dual-band throughput is wasted, Wi-Fi range extenders exist.

The range extender that Belkin has just revealed is not nearly as powerful as the type of routers you might be thinking about.

Called F9K1015, it is a fairly modest piece of work really, with only single-band support (2.4 GHz). Still, it will add up to 5,000 square feet / 464 square meters to the range of any router. Besides, it's not like there are many smartphones or portable audio players that can use 5 GHz.

So while you keep your media player, TV and PC within close reach of the router, in the same room if needed, the Belkin Wi-Fi Range Extender will bring access to mobile devices to all other rooms, and maybe the garden behind your villa (300 Mbps speed).

The Belkin Wi-Fi Range Extender has a single SSID (service set identifier) and can automatically connect to the strongest Wi-Fi signal nearby. It makes it easy to use, without much security danger because the F9K1015 adopts the same user name and password as the router.

Finally, the device, white as it is, can go nearly unnoticed when plugged into a wall socket. All for the price of £29.99 / €34.99 / $47.58.
