Apple's iPod is by far the best-known portable music player around and this is the reason why quite a large number of manufacturers keep rolling out all sorts of accessories that will help users extend the functionality of their beloved jukebox. FM transmitters are among the most popular such accessories, as they allow users to play the songs stored in the iPod's memory directly via their car's audio system and this is the reason why the Belkin company has just announced an important upgrade to its TuneBase FM transmitter, which now works with a larger number of iPod models, while incorporating a whole new technology for delivering higher quality audio.

Thus, the new TuneBase model comes packed with ClearScan technology, which allows it to automatically search and find the clearest frequency (or station) to use for broadcasting the audio signal to the car's audio system. Furthermore, in order to assure an even higher level of audio quality, the device also features a Pro setting that optimizes audio and boosts volume.

The FM transmitter has also been fitted with a line-out connection for use with car-stereo inputs or cassette adapter, and is capable of transmitting the audio signals wirelessly on multiple FM channels from 88.1MHz-107.9MHz. Moreover, it features a flexible neck, thus providing an enhanced level of positioning versatility for the iPod.

As mentioned right from the title, this things works with most iPod models out there. Thus, it can broadcast the music coming from the iPod touch, the nano 3rd generation (video), the classic (obviously), the nano 2nd generation (aluminum), the iPod 5th generation (video), as well as the nano 1st generation, the iPod 4th generation (color and normal display), as well as the iPod mini 1st generation.

According to Belkin, the new TuneBase FM will hit the shelves across America in October for around 90 US dollars, but will be made available by the year's end in other parts of the world as well, including here the Asian, Australian and European markets.
