Sharon Stone, wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne and the manager of the Osbourne empire, has long struggled with image issues, ranging from her weight to the fact that she simply did not have the standard Hollywood face or body. Many years and several cosmetic interventions later, Sharon can now openly speak about what it was like to make a name for herself in the industry without having the looks to back her up.

Speaking with Psychologies magazine, Sharon Osbourne, never the one to beat around the bush about a topic, no matter what it is, reveals she attributes all her accomplishments to her beauty – or lack thereof, for that matter. Being always the ugly one ever since she was young, she was forced to learn how to be pleasant in the company of others in other ways, to be fun and easygoing and, at the same time, have a strong personality that would help her out when she came short on good looks, Sharon explains.

While other women are thankful for their beauty that helps them open countless doors, Sharon says it was her ugliness that helped her in life. “In the music business in the Seventies, girls were beautiful. You were a performer, or you could be a girlfriend or groupie, but you still had to look good. I didn’t have the face or the body that opens doors... Not being beautiful was an education. My achievements are down to my looks, or lack of them... I’m not putting myself down, that’s the truth.” Sharon says for the latest issue of the aforementioned magazine.

She was “short, fat and hairy,” so she had to “develop a brain and personality and be fun and smart and learn to get on with people and make deals,” Sharon further explains. As it’s common knowledge, there was a time when the star could not speak so freely of these issues and especially not of her looks, as she admits herself. It took Mrs. Osbourne many years, gastric surgery and many cosmetic interventions on her body, and making a name for herself as a force to be reckoned with in showbiz to get the kind of confidence she has now.

Still, Sharon would not change a thing about her life even if she could. “I didn’t have any talent, either, and I left school with barely a single qualification. If I’d been pretty my life would probably have been very different.” she says of her younger years. The one thing that she would like to have more control over is, though, her relationship to food. “If I’m honest, I don't think I’ll ever be totally free from that [bulimia]. It’s much more under control – I don’t throw up any more. But food for me will never be easy.” Mrs. Osbourne adds in the same interview.
