Chris Hadfield is snapping so many amazing photos from up in space that it's best just to follow him on Twitter or Google+ so you don't miss out.
Every once in a while though, some photos stand out, like this gorgeous one of Beijing in the night.
It looks like something a graphics designer might create to show off his or her Photoshop skills, but it's an actual photo shot from a few hundred kilometers above Earth. Granted, the photo loses some of its shine when you view it at its full resolution.
But shooting any photo in the dark from a few hundred kilometers while traveling at a few kilometers a second is a feat in itself.
Because of the speeds involved, the shutter speed can't be too long or everything will be smudged out. Instead, you have to use a high ISO, which accounts for the grain.
