Android fans and enthusiasts rejoice, as Chinese company Lenovo plans to release the cheapest smartphone powered by an octa-core processor, the Golden Warrior.

The handset has been recently spotted in China and has yet to be officially introduced by Lenovo. However, GSMArena reports that the powerful smartphone will be launched in the Mainland soon and will only cost (amazingly) just $130 (€95) outright.

This low even for the Chinese emerging market, which is usually flooded by native OEMs with attractive smartphones priced aggressively. In fact, this is one of the reasons international companies have troubles in selling millions of devices in China, with few exceptions, of course.

At this price, you probably expect to get mid-range features aside from the octa-core processor, but the fact is Lenovo Golden Warrior sounds exactly like a top-tier smartphone on paper.

The only downside of the device is the fact that it will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but that could change by the time the phone goes official.

Moreover, Lenovo might announce that the Golden Warrior will receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in the not so distant future.

So, Lenovo Golden Warrior is rumored to pack 16GB of internal memory and no less than 2GB of RAM. Users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

The phone will boast a stunning 5.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. This isn’t the average type of display that is usually included in a mid-range smartphone priced under $150 (€110), so here is hoping the rumors are true.

The octa-core MediaTek processor that powers the Lenovo Golden Warrior is clocked at 1.4GHz and alongside 2GB of RAM it could run just about any Android game available on Google Play Store.

But there is more to it. Just like most Android smartphones that get released in China, Lenovo Golden Warrior offers dual-SIM capability possibly with Dual Standby support.

The only thing that troubles us is the fact that the Golden Warrior might be powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which seems rather small for the hardware Lenovo included.

There’s a slight chance that the prototype of the phone may include this battery and the final product a better one, but we doubt that’s the case here.

And now the bad news is that the Lenovo Golden Warrior will most likely only be available for purchase in China. What do you think about what could be the cheapest octa-core Android smartphone soon to be available on the market?
