If you live in the US, you may have noticed the new Halloween doodle Google has put up. Unlike in previous years, Google went out and bought real pumpkins, carved them out and put them on display at the Googleplex and on the Google homepage.

Google didn't carve just any old pumpkins, it bought six, one for each letter, huge, man-sized pumpkins, weighing more than 1,000 pounds, 453 Kg, each.

It took eight hours to carve them out entirely, with each pumpkin having its own carver. A time-slide of the process is now live on the Google homepage, but there's also a YouTube video showcasing it. They're not very detailed though.

So, if you want to check out what happened behind the scenes, you can check out the video above which goes into all of the details of the process.
