Odd news from Belgium says that, soon enough, the country's city of Bruges will be home to an underground beer pipeline. That's right, this city will build a pipeline just like the ones that bring water to our homes, and use it to carry beer.

Now, before you quit your job and tell everybody that you are moving to Belgium, you should know that, unfortunately, this pipeline will not be connected to people's sinks and showers. Or toilets.

According to Flanders News, the pipeline will serve to carry beer from the local De Halve Maan brewery to a bottling plant that sits about 3 kilometers (approximately 1.8 miles) away.

The brewery expects that, by investing in this pipeline, it will manage to keep about 500 delivery trucks from crisscrossing the city of Bruges on a regular basis. Both tourists and locals are expected to benefit from this change in traffic conditions.

When completed and put to work, the pipeline will carry beer from the brewery to the bottling plant in about 10 to 15 minutes. It is estimated that about 6,000 liters of beer will complete this journey throughout the course of just one hour.

Commenting on this project, brewery CEO Xavier Vanneste wished to stress that “This is unique in the brewing industry with exception of one German brewery that has installed a similar system.”
