It is not a secret that independent game developers sometimes manage to bring great concepts to the market - concepts that can change, in a good way, the way bigger companies treat their game development process. And Last of the Patriots II is one of the titles that tries to bring new ways of telling a story (or, to be more specific, a dual-story) - being based on an original movie script. You can give this game a try by downloading it for free from the official web page - or one of the mirrors you can find there.

Created by Paul Davis, the sequel focuses mostly on finding innovative story-based solutions, showcasing a dual-story driven gameplay. The game itself, even though it is a sci-fi shooter prototype, revolves more around the plot and character and less on action and tries to present war in a realistic way, never seen before in any other games.

"The aim of this sequel is to introduce the concept of dual-story gameplay, as the player follows the story of the two main characters and how their stories inevitably intertwine" said Paul Davis, founder of the series. "The game is a prototype, but we hope this can add something both for the industry and players alike."

Being an independent, low-budget game, Last of the Patriots II doesn't feature some great visuals (as you can see in the screenshot in the upper left corner), but some of the most hardcore gamers already know that eye-candy graphics doesn't automatically mean a flawless game - sometimes, for some people, the story and the gameplay matter more than anything else. And this is what Last of the Patriots II brings. Therefore feel free to give it a try - it doesn't cost you anything, so you have nothing to lose.
