Nitro Games, the developer, and Paradox Interactive, as the publisher, have announced a competition named Rule the Waves related to their upcoming East India Company, a game blending strategy and naval tactics put in the service of the creation of a trade empire.

Players who are interested in the experience are invited to send a photo to the developer in order to become one of the commanders featured in the game. East India Company will be released on July 28 in the United States and on July 31 in Europe. Entries for the commander photo contest need to be sent before July 16 and will be implemented in the game via a post launch patch.

If you plan to Rule the Waves, then you need to select a photo and make sure that it's not black and white and that the contrast is uniformly distributed across the image. Try not to put any hands or other objects in front of the face and also make sure that you try to strike a majestic pose.

Nitro is saying that having a mustache or other facial hair is a plus as is wearing any kind of accessory blending in with the XVIII century. After you have the perfect image, write a short explanation related to your motives for being in the game and send them both to [email protected].

East India Company manages to blend real time ship to ship combat, which can be fully controlled by players, with a strategic layer where the player tries to build the biggest trade-based empire of the XVIII century. This means dealing with far away nations, bribing them or assaulting them into submission, dealing with rival companies, fighting them or cooperating to bring others down, and dealing with complex markets and a wide variety of in-game characters.
