Become The Most Environmentally-Friendly Driver

With some help from the DriveMaster Pro

Are you the owner of a pretty old and decrepit piece of junk car, which is environmentally unfriendly even when you're not driving it, and you're quite afraid that the thing doesn't meet any government regulations regarding pollution? Well, if that's the case, it seems that there is a device out there that will allow you to drive green and in perfect harmony with both the environment and the authorities, namely the DriveMaster Pro from the Japanese company Hino.

And that's because this rather unusual car accessory has sensors which detect your vehicle's speed, acceleration / deceleration,
idle times, gear ratio, and emissions, and warn you whenever one or all of these parameters are above the levels established by government regulations. All the data is stored onto a memory card, which can be very easily pulled out of the device and stuck into a normal card reader (so even police officers can check your car's emissions at any given time).

The DriveMaster Pro consists of 2 different units, one that does all the computations and sensor readings (a.k.a. the brain) and one fitted with a display for all the sensor readings, mounted on the vehicle's dashboard. Here are some of the most important specs each of these 2 units have to offer:

- main unit dimensions: 178 x 50 x 183 mm;
- dashboard unit dimensions: 193 x 60 x 50 mm;
- operating temperature: -15° - + 60°;
- features: a memory card reader with memory card for data retention.

This device could prove to be quite an interesting solution for those drivers who really care about the environment, but at the same time can't afford to buy a new car, whose onboard computer is already fitted with some of the functions carried out by the DriveMaster Pro. There's no information on either the price or availability of this device, but I certainly hope this thing will make out of Japan at some point, since it could be pretty useful in other, less-than-environmentally-friendly countries.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
