Pageant officials are pressuring Carrie Prejean into giving up the crown, report has it

Carrie Prejean has been under heavy fire ever since the finals of the Miss USA beauty competition for having the courage to express her personal opinion on marriage, and how it should only be between a man and a woman. Tagged as a homophobe or, best case scenario, a hypocrite, Prejean is now also taking heat from the beauty pageant itself, with its most prominent members suggesting to the media that she might want to start considering giving up her crown.

As it’s already common knowledge, talks are currently underway to have Prejean replaced as Miss California USA because of a series of photos she took before running in the competition and which surfaced on the Internet the other week. That, combined with her determination of not apologizing for her comments on the Miss USA final, have prompted many to ask for her crown – and the anti-Prejean campaign is only beginning, from what one may infer from what state directors Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler are telling Fox News.

Lewis, for starters, is saying that Prejean is already ignoring her responsibilities as the reigning Miss California, having failed to show up for a complex video shoot called “I Believe… The Beauty of California,” in which countless other beauty queens will also appear. “We reached out; we tried to get her to be here. Unfortunately her schedule wasn’t permitting with her new outreach programs she was involved with today with some PR stuff she was doing. We miss her, we wish she was here. We would definitely like to get her home and get her working on the business at hand.” Lewis says of Carrie’s absence.

However, regarding the topic of taking the Miss California tiara from her, Lewis is more straight to the point. “We are a story in evolution and the conclusion just isn’t here yet. […] We are just trying to move forward in what is the best way for the organization, the women, the titleholder and the state. Carrie is still Miss California USA, but right now she is not acting in the capacity of Miss California USA. She is acting as Carrie Prejean and working on things that are important to Carrie Prejean.” the pageant state director says.

Shanna Moakler, former Miss USA, is equally delicate about speaking her mind on Prejean, but still straight to the point. “It’s a campaign trying to show the diversity of California and really spreading equality.” Moakler says of the video shoot Prejean did not attend. “The Miss California Organization’s slogan is ‘The Beauty of California’ and that represents everything. That’s what we try to celebrate in our organization. I’m really proud and excited about it. I think it’s really important that people understand that though Carrie Prejean is allowed to have her opinions, they don’t necessarily coincide with the Miss California Organization.” the former beauty queen adds.

As pageant officials try to save face in the media, speculation has it they’re all putting pressure on Carrie Prejean to give up her Miss USA crown willingly, so as to avoid further public embarrassment. Prejean, on the other hand, is believed to be talking with her attorneys and analyzing her options at this point.

“courage to express her personal opinion on marriage“ ?

Hardly....this was a BIGOTED speech and something that is not welcome in such competition. To top that off, she lied about previous nude photos of her. Apparently her morals are only the ones that she can pick and choose.

I think Miss California won her title, fair and square.
She won Miss America also, fair and square.
She gave the most dignified answer about marriage being between a man and a woman. I was proud of her. If she had said anything else; you people would have thrown a royal fit. So, get off of her back.
When they are asked questions on these contests; whose opinion are they supposed to give? Her answer showed that she is a well balance young woman.
There is no reason to pick her apart and find fault with her after she has won Miss USA. There always someone who isn't going to like something about who ever wins.
Let her have what she won.

Bigoted my a--! SHAME ON YOU! You don't know enough about who this woman really is to label her that.Sounds like you are a very intolerant of others. I am sick and tired of all these narrow minded, flawed reasoning, liberal people who think they are the thought police that just verbally attack anyone who does not agree with their usually unamerican views.By the way,she only stated the very same position that President Obama has on gay marriage.I guess that makes him a bigot also, right?

I guess in my absense from watching Miss USA, the pagent is no longer trying to present itself as a competetion for strong independent woman who are in charge of their lives and trying to leave something better behind. Thus giving the society a strong figurehead to raly around.

Appearently now they simply acknowledge they want a pretty corporate tool that they can let fly in whatever direction the wind is blowing.

I agree with Miss California about gay marriage god made man and women different for a reason. She was only expressing her opinion and that was no reason for her to lose the crown over that. Also was there a winning answer to the question? No matter how you answer you are going to piss someone off. If she answered that she was for it she would have sounded fake and when she said no the gays attacked. Would you rather want someone who's honest or someone who just tells people what they want to hear to win a contest or get a crown. By the way for people who call Miss California and I homophobes we are not afraid of gays and a phobia is a fear. We simply don't respect their decision and the way they chose to live their life. For instance if I found out my friend was gay I would still be friends with them but I would have lost a little respect. I applaud Miss California for voicing her honest opinion instead of letting Perez intimidate her.

Prejean broke the rules. That she appears also to be of questionable morals is another story. Why have rules if there is no accountability for those who flagrantly break them? Personally, I think the woman is a phony. Maybe not as big as Trump himself, but nevertheless a phony. So until November, there will be a phony representing California. Almost fits.

Lewis and Moakler are Idiots. Katie Rees is now a whiner.
Prejean has shown nothing but class thru-out the whole ordeal.
No question who the real Bigots are.
